We are All a Procession as Featureless as Water, 2025
Wood (walnut and oak), acrylic, glass, stoneware, stoneware dust, LED projector
32.5” x 99” x 38”
These fragments were cast from an assortment of natural objects collected from my father’s gravesite in Wales, gathered from his garden, and from hikes we took together through familiar mountains, forests, and riverbeds. Each branch is a thin bone reaching through my memories of home, of him. The rest were cast from objects taken from my own life, 4,918 miles away from where my father’s body lies in Welsh soil. This is their meeting place.
The lines of my hand always mirrored these trails
I look down at my palms, tracing deep contours to navigate by
I was young here
You were too
Before, before
I would like to sincerely thank Adam DeSorbo whose kindness and remarkable woodworking skills helped turned this complex structure from a series of strange drawings in my sketchbooks into a beautiful reality.
